Cartier Santos de Cartier Small Quartz Watch

The Cartier Santos de Cartier small quartz watch is now available in three materials: gold, two-tone, and stainless steel. While it didn't cause the same sensation as the Tank à Guichets watch, the arrival of the smaller Santos still excited many. Like any Cartier Privé watch, such high-end limited editions are extremely rare in everyday public settings unless a collector is willing to take them out of their safe. However, watches like the Santos are different; they are designed for everyday wear and are therefore naturally more approachable https://www.lookalikewatchsale.co.

In my opinion, the smaller model is the most proportionally harmonious of the three sizes, seamlessly integrating iconic elements. The gleaming polished gold bezel is enveloped by a matte-finished case top, transitioning smoothly to the vertically extending sides via a wide, rounded chamfer. The steel screws on the bezel complement the gold screws on the bracelet, further highlighting the exquisite charm of the two-tone design. Combined with its petite size and square silhouette, the classic Galbée silhouette lingers in my mind, but it must be said that the proportions of the bezel and case on the new model are indeed more refined than the Galbée's wide, flat shape.

Two sword-shaped blued steel hands indicate the time, contrasting sharply with the sunburst dial. This is where the most significant difference from the larger Santos watch lies—the latter features an opal dial. As mentioned earlier, the new model lacks a seconds hand and the dial does not bear the word "Automatic," indicating that it is powered by a quartz movement. Another noteworthy point is that Cartier's iconic Secret Signature is no longer hidden within the "V" of the Roman numeral "VII," but has been moved to the "X" (10) o'clock marker.

While this watch is reminiscent of the earlier Santos Galbée, there are significant differences. The new smaller Santos, while inheriting some of its aesthetic genes, fails to maintain the unique quality characteristic of its historical era. In actual wear, the new case, especially the tightly fitted bracelet links, exhibits a robustness beyond its size, meaning its wearing experience is completely different from the traditional Galbée. I initially expected it to sag naturally on the wrist due to its weight, but found it more comfortable to wear above the wrist bone.
